The Cook Government has invested $39,000 through Healthway to help East Pilbara residents lead healthier, more active lives.

The Shire of East Pilbara will help people in Newman, Nullagine and Marble Bar embrace physical activity and enjoy healthy lifestyles through its Active Living Program.

Over the next 12 months, a free active living starter pack will be available to eligible participants at the Newman Aquatic Centre and Newman Recreation Centre. The pack provides a number of complimentary weekly visits during the term, encouraging people to get started through a variety of activities. These include gym and pool visits, group fitness classes and access to casual sport activities, such as basketball, pickleball, tennis, and badminton.

In addition, residents will benefit from unlimited pool access for Marble Bar and Nullagine residents during summer, and healthy eating and active living resources shared through major events, newsletters, venue displays, and social media.

All activities will be delivered by trained staff and volunteers, ensuring cultural appropriateness, accessibility and relevance.

It forms part of the Cook Government's commitment to keeping Western Australians well and supporting healthy lifestyles.
