With the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension nearing completion, community consultation is now open on new and amended bus routes to support the three new stations and ensure the public transport needs of the community are met.

Timetables for train services and the supporting bus network for surrounding suburbs will be made available before the start of passenger services.

A new bus network will be introduced with new routes added and some existing routes enhanced.

Community feedback is being sought on the proposed routes which will see expanded services in:

  • Catalina Estate (Tamala Park);
  • Amberton Estate (Eglinton); and
  • Capricorn Beach Estate (Yanchep).

The proposed services for both the Jindalee and Alkimos areas are subject to the completion of the surrounding road network.

Services will also extend further north to serve the Atlantis Beach Estate in Two Rocks.

Feedback can be provided at mysaytransport.wa.gov.au.

Significant work has been underway in recent months in preparation for the Yanchep Rail Extension, which has seen the first test train on the track. Ongoing rigorous testing is continuing to ensure all future railcars on the new rail line will run safely and smoothly.

Comments attributed to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Community feedback will help shape the way new and amended bus routes will be introduced to the area and support the needs of the growing population for years to come.

"The new bus network will underpin additional transport choice for residents in Perth's rapidly expanding northern fringe, especially with the new Yanchep Rail Extension starting passenger service in coming months.

"I encourage the community to provide their feedback by February 16 so we can have the best outcomes for public transport users in the growing area."

Comments attributed to Butler MLA John Quigley:

"Delivering the Yanchep Rail Extension is going to deliver great outcomes for our community including new and enhanced bus routes.

"The consultation underway will be important to the final bus routes, so I encourage anyone with an interest to take the time to review the proposed routes and provide feedback."
