The Cook Labor Government has confirmed the appointment of the inaugural members of the new Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) Advisory Committee, established to provide independent advice on the responsible use of government data.
The Committee comprises senior leaders and specialists with broad expertise in public sector information sharing, data use best practice, privacy and data governance. Members bring experience from across government, research, industry and community settings, including Aboriginal representation.

The Committee will provide advice to WA's Chief Data Officer on how Western Australia's government data can be used responsibly to improve services, inform policy and deliver better outcomes for the public, while meeting community expectations on privacy and transparency.
It will also advise on engaging appropriately with Aboriginal people before data is shared under the PRIS legislation for purposes that may affect Aboriginal people and communities, and on protecting sensitive Aboriginal information.
The members appointed to the new PRIS Advisory Committee will serve a three-year term with the first meeting scheduled for May 2026.
