- Part of the Cook Government's commitment to supporting active lifestyles and connected communities
Basketball associations across Western Australia are being invited to be part of Australia's biggest basketball festival, with the launch of the HoopsFest Adopt-A-Club program.
Announced today by the National Basketball League (NBL) and Women's National Basketball League (WNBL), and delivered in partnership with Basketball WA, the initiative links grassroots associations with elite clubs ahead of HoopsFest Perth, running from 15-18 January 2026.
The Adopt-A-Club program will see seven WA associations get direct access to NBL and WNBL superstars, including:
- Binar Basketball Association;
- Cockburn Basketball Association;
- East Perth Eagles;
- Eastern Suns;
- Perth Redbacks;
- Rockingham Basketball Association, and;
- Warwick Senators.
The local associations will be connected with NBL and WNBL teams for the duration of the festival, backing their adopted club and encouraging players, families, and volunteers to be part of the HoopsFest experience both on and off the court.
Participating associations will benefit from access to tickets, player appearances, junior engagement opportunities, and in-venue recognition throughout the festival.
NBL and WNBL players will visit local clubs, helping to build strong and lasting connections between grassroots basketball and the elite level.
The Cook Government continues to support major sporting events that inspire participation, strengthen local clubs, and deliver social and economic benefits for WA.
Over past five years, the government has provided around $130 million for facilities and projects that will benefit basketball clubs and players across the State.
