Lotterywest has returned a record-breaking
$1.1 billion to the Western Australian community through grants and lottery prizes
across the 2025-26 financial year, thanks to WA lottery players and the 480 Lotterywest
retailers across the State.
A record $172.2 million in discretionary
grants was delivered to 452 not-for-profit organisations and local governments
through 520 grants, the largest amount distributed through Lotterywest's grants
program in its 93-year history. This includes $10.8 million to Screenwest and
$9.6 million to Perth Festival.
Highlights include a $2.9 million grant
supporting Good Sammy's new Canning Vale headquarters, helping to create
meaningful employment opportunities for people living with disability, and $4
million towards the Kurlu Kurlu Wirri play space in Port Hedland, providing an
inclusive space for local families to enjoy.
These grants were delivered alongside more
than $232 million in statutory allocations. More than $185 million was
allocated to support health outcomes across the State, and the arts and sports
sectors received $23 million each in funding, strengthening arts and cultural
experiences and providing inclusive sporting opportunities across WA.
Lotterywest also provided targeted support
to the State's creative sector, delivering $10 million to 41 organisations
through the inaugural Arts and Culture Infrastructure Grant Program, with a
further $20 million committed over the next two financial years.
Following Cyclone Narelle in April, the
Lotterywest-funded Premier's Natural Disaster Recovery Fund was activated to
assist impacted households, small businesses and community organisations.
Delivered in partnership with Australian Red Cross and the Western Australian
Council of Social Service (WACOSS), the fund distributed $4.25 million, with
295 applications approved by June 2026.
In 2025-26, WA players shared in more than
$760 million in prizes across Lotterywest games and Scratch'n'Win products,
including 87 life-changing division one prizes.
The financial year saw the largest prize won
in WA for more than three years when a Mandurah couple celebrated an incredible
$50 million Powerball jackpot last October.
Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in
the country, with all available profits returned to the community.
