Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Tony Buti today officially opened $31.7 million in upgrades at Karratha Senior High School.

Delivered by the Cook Labor Government, the school's new technology learning area building features an engineering workshop, metal workshop, kiln and design rooms, mechatronics laboratory, STEM laboratory, IT laboratories, digital design laboratory, media classrooms, a film studio and staff study areas.

Upgrades to the school also include a major refurbishment to specialist learning areas to create a commercial kitchen, an extension to the administration building to accommodate student services, and the addition of a covered hard court.

Karratha Senior High School has more than 1,200 students enrolled and is the only public secondary school in town.

The upgrades build on the school's modern science facilities, a performing arts centre and gymnasium, to help meet continued growth in student enrolments.

They were designed by Iredale Pedersen Hook Architects and built by Decmil, and are part of the State Government's $1.5 billion school infrastructure program to deliver new and modern public schools across Western Australia.
