  • 72 community initiatives supported across regional and remote WA
  • Almost $6 million invested in regional partnerships through the program since 2020
  • Cook Labor Government supporting a high quality of life for all Western Australians, no matter where they live

The Cook Labor Government, through Horizon Power's Community Partnerships Program, has awarded more than $465,000 to support 72 community initiatives across regional and remote Western Australia.

The latest round includes support for sport programs and equipment, solar powered projects and other community-led initiatives in towns across Horizon Power's service area, including those impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle.

Partnering with high-profile events across WA, the program is also helping to grow regional tourism, attracting visitors and strengthening local economies.

This includes partnerships with Broome's Shinju Matsuri Floating Lanterns Festival, Esperance's Winter Wonderland and the 2027 Lake Argyle Swim.

The program provides $1 million each financial year to a range of initiatives which foster vibrant communities, in the WA regional energy provider's service area.

Since 2020, the Community Partnerships Program has delivered nearly $6 million to approximately 700 initiatives in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West and Goldfields-Esperance regions.

The next round of Horizon Power's Community Partnerships Program will open soon. For details, visit: www.horizonpower.com.au/partnerships

"Through Horizon Power's Community Partnerships Program, the Cook Labor Government is proud to back community organisations building a stronger, more inclusive regional WA.

"We know how important our regional communities are, and this funding will go towards almost 700 initiatives that will deliver real benefits for local communities."

Comments attributed to Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:

"Horizon Power's Community Partnerships Program delivers real benefits for Kimberley communities by supporting the local organisations, volunteers and events that bring people together and create opportunities across our region.

"Backing local initiatives not only strengthens community spirit, it also creates flow-on benefits for local businesses, supports regional tourism and helps make our towns even better places to live, work and visit."

Comments attributed to Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:

"Through Horizon Power's Community Partnerships Program, I am pleased that the Cook Labor Government supports the people and organisations that bring Pilbara communities together and create positive opportunities across the region.

"Supporting community-led initiatives not only strengthens regional pride and participation but also generates wider economic and social benefits for local businesses, tourism and liveability across the Pilbara."

Comments attributed to Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent:

"This partnership is very important for the Goldfields community.

"I am particularly pleased to see that this latest round includes support for sport programs and equipment, solar powered projects and other community-led initiatives."
