The Cook Labor Government has marked a major milestone at Ocean Reef Marina, with the Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW) Marina Manager (MM) facility and the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) now operational.

The purpose-built MRW facility provides a modern base for one of Western Australia's largest and busiest volunteer marine rescue groups, supporting critical search and rescue operations.

On call 24 hours a day, MRW covers a significant stretch of coastline from City Beach in the south to Alkimos in the north, extending up to 30 nautical miles offshore, providing a vital safety service to recreational boaters and water users.

The new two storey facility includes dedicated training spaces, operational offices and specialist equipment areas, along with a ground floor office for the future marina manager.

A rooftop communications suite further enhances co-ordination with emergency services and maritime agencies.

Adjacent to the MRW/MM facility, the ORSSC is also now operational, delivering upgraded dining, angling, dive, power boating and sailing facilities for members, overlooking the future family-friendly beach and coastal pool.

These are the first community facilities to become operational at Ocean Reef Marina.

Once complete, Ocean Reef Marina will have capacity for more than 1,000 residential dwellings and 12,000sqm of retail and commercial floorspace.
