PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative delivering for community

• PlayOn WA delivers 432 community sport and recreation infrastructure assets in its first year

The Cook Labor Government's PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative is delivering for community sport and recreation, with 432 infrastructure assets completed across Western Australia in its first year.

Since 1 July 2025, the initiative has supported the delivery of new and upgraded playing fields, courts, clubrooms, lighting, spectator facilities, change rooms, and recreation spaces across metropolitan and regional Western Australia.

Of the 432 assets delivered, 307 have been completed in metropolitan WA and 125 in regional communities.

PlayOn WA is the Cook Government's plan to deliver 2,030 community sport and recreation infrastructure assets by 2030, helping ensure local facilities keep pace with growing communities and increasing participation.

The initiative is supporting clubs and local governments to deliver the facilities communities need, whether that is better lighting so teams can train and play for longer, upgraded change rooms to support women and girls, or more accessible spaces that allow people of all ages and abilities to take part.

The first year of PlayOn WA has seen projects delivered across a wide range of sports and recreation activities, supporting grassroots clubs and helping create more welcoming, inclusive, and active communities.

New and upgraded lighting has also been a major focus, helping clubs make better use of existing ovals, courts, and playing fields, while creating more opportunities for training, competition, and community use.

The delivery of 432 assets in the first year puts the government well on track towards its target of 2,030 assets by 2030.

By investing in modern, fit-for-purpose facilities, the Cook Labor Government is helping more Western Australians get involved in sport and recreation, while supporting the clubs and volunteers that are at the heart of local communities.

The PlayOn WA initiative is part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to delivering the infrastructure and services Western Australians need no matter where they live.
