Regional Western
Australia will benefit from a diverse program of live performing arts
experiences, with ten projects supported through the Cook Government's Regional
Performing Arts program (RPA).
Delivered under the
Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program, the RPA helps support the
creation and presentation of performance-based works that connect regional
communities with high-quality arts and cultural experiences.
Ten projects will share
in $1,272,028 in funding, supporting the development of two new WA-made works
and eight touring performances across regional towns and communities.
The program supports
organisations through two categories:
- Made in WA, which supports the development and
presentation of new performance works in regional Western Australia; and
- Playing WA, which supports regional touring to improve
access to live performing arts experiences.
The funded projects will
deliver theatre, music, dance and puppetry to regional audiences, with tours
and activities taking place throughout 2026 and 2027, supporting local
engagement, skills development and regional economies.
The recipients of the
2025-26 Regional Performing Arts funding round are:
- Tura New Music Ltd - $150,000 for Guan: Mother of
Pearl Tour, touring from July to August 2026
- CircuitWest Inc. - $74,900 for Piyalbajarri: Yarns and
Songs with Peter Salmon by Ngaliju, touring from May to June 2026
- CircuitWest Inc. - $125,300 for Dragged Through the
Desert - A Priscilla Celebration, touring from October to September 2026
- Sensorium Theatre - $150,000 for Wonderbox, touring
from October 2026 to June 2027
- Yirra Yaakin Aboriginal Corporation - $128,752 for 7
Stages of Grieving, touring from August to September 2026
- Spare Parts Puppet Theatre - $110,217 for Wilfrid
Gordon McDonald Partridge, touring from August to September 2026
- Marrugeku - $150,000 for Ngurragabu [From the last
night/next/tomorrow] development and premiere season in Broome in May and
June 2026
- G A King & M Storen (Whiskey and Boots) - $84,203
for The Quadrangle and Mama Stitch, touring in May and June 2026
- Theatre 180 - $149,251 for Catalpa: Flight to Freedom,
touring from April to June 2026
- Wheatbelt Arts & Events - $149,405 for Which Way
to Hollywood development and premiere season in York in March 2027
