Site establishment works will commence this week at Perth Park, marking an important milestone ahead of major construction.

Early on-site works will include fencing, establishment of site offices and access tracks, laydown areas, service identification, monitoring equipment, and some select vegetation clearing to facilitate the early site works.

Fencing around the project area will take several days to complete, after which time the park will be closed throughout construction.

The pedestrian path through the park will be open for the upcoming AFL State of Origin game at Optus Stadium and then closed for the remainder of the construction period.

Wayfinding signage will be put in place, advising pedestrians of detour arrangements during construction.

Perth Park will deliver exciting new facilities for entertainment, culture, arts, and sport while connecting Belmont Park Racecourse, Optus Stadium, the State Tennis Centre, and Crown Perth to create a premier entertainment and sporting precinct for Western Australia.

The facilities will include a new outdoor music amphitheatre, a multi-use track for cycling and an annual motorsport event, and a new multi-purpose building with function and event spaces, as well as indoor courts designed for disability sport.

A major landscaping plan for the precinct is being finalised that will see the tree canopy more than doubled, including the retention of a large number of existing trees, new shared paths throughout the park, and a range of other public amenities that will enhance community use year-round.

The State Government is also progressing procurement for private sector investment into a new hospitality venue at Perth Park.

Following a successful market-sounding process for the proposed venue late last year with ten respondents, the Government will now progress discussions with potential partners.

Land assembly and development approvals for additional areas of Perth Park are on track.

This includes the recent lodgement of a Development Application for an area north of Roger McKay Drive, within the project footprint.

A public comment period will soon open for the Development Application specifically, with dates to be publicly advertised.

Perth Park will deliver a major economic return, with an independent analysis by ACIL Allen confirming the project is expected to generate $61 million in economic activity every year.

It's part of the Government's commitment to delivering quality infrastructure for Western Australians and diversifying the State's economy so it remains the strongest in the nation.

Comments attributed to Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Our Government is all about delivery and Perth Park is going to be an incredible precinct for Western Australia.

"It will be a hub for community, entertainment, culture, arts, and sport while also delivering major economic returns for our State.

"It's essential we start site establishment works now, to ensure we are ready to begin formal construction in coming months.

"We recognise this will cause some disruption for people, but we will ensure appropriate wayfinding is in place to support pedestrians, especially those walking to and from the stadium.

"One of the most exciting elements of the project is the proposed new hospitality venue.

"The feedback we have had from industry has been positive and we will soon progress discussions with potential partners."

Comments attributed to Parliamentary Secretary Daniel Pastorelli:

"As our State's premier sporting and entertainment precinct, Perth Park will deliver ongoing economic returns for WA and become a thriving community parkland.

"Once completed, it will become something all Western Australians can be proud of - an iconic destination for locals, families, and tourists.

"We thank people in advance for their patience and understanding, as construction ramps up and causes some disruption."
