The Cook Labor Government is strengthening Western
Australia's research community with new guidelines being developed to support
more competitive grant applications.
Western Australia
has a strong and growing research sector, with world-class expertise across
universities, medical research institutes and health service providers.
Development of the
framework will be informed by engagement with WA universities, medical research
institutes, health service providers and researchers, alongside a review of
best-practice grant support models used by leading research organisations.
Consultation
with the sector will occur over the coming months to help inform the final
framework.
The
work will be led by the Office of Medical Research and Innovation within the
Department of Health and will complement existing investments through the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund.
