The Cook Labor
Government's State Budget has allocated $585,000 for projects that address the issues
and barriers faced by Western Australian women and girls.
The Women's Grants for a
Stronger Future Program builds on the success of previous years and supports the
development of WA projects that advance gender equality and respond to
significant and emerging issues to build a better, fairer and more equitable
community.
The program aligns with
the Cook Labor Government's Stronger Together:WA's Plan for Gender
Equality, a 10-year whole-of-government roadmap launched in March 2020
to drive meaningful, systemic change to achieve gender equality.
This year, the competitive
grants program offers two funding categories. Eligible grassroots organisations
are encouraged to apply for:
- grants
of up to $10,000 for one-off initiatives delivered over a period up to 12
months that aim to advance gender equality by aligning
with any of the Stronger Together priority areas; and
- grants
of up to $100,000 for larger strategic projects delivered over
12-to-24 months to advance gender equality by aligning with any of the Stronger
Together priority areas.
Previous recipients have
included the Women's Legal Service's education and prevention program on technology-facilitated
abuse; Reviving Noongar Voices and a youth-led campaign delivered by Goldfields
Women's Health Care Association to challenge myths about sexual violence in
Kalgoorlie.
Grant applications close
at 3pm on 28 October 2026.
