Synergy is introducing a smart switch pilot offering select WA households information about potential electricity bill savings they could make by switching plans.

Synergy has identified up to 5,000 customers for the pilot, with a focus on WA households experiencing financial pressures, who may benefit by switching from Synergy's default A1 flat rate plan to Midday Saver.

As a part of the pilot, Synergy will provide customers with an estimate of their potential electricity bill savings over a 12-month period so they can decide if switching to Midday Saver would suit their households and help reduce their bills.

Midday Saver is a time-of-use plan that offers lower electricity rates from 9am to 3pm and 9pm to 9am, encouraging customers to shift energy use to off-peak times.

Following a switch to Midday Saver, Synergy will provide customers with additional education and support over a 12-month period so they can understand their energy use and choose the right plan.

The pilot will enable Synergy to identify the savings customers who choose to switch energy plans can make.

Smart switch has been developed as a cost-of-living measure, following recommendations for Synergy to introduce a 'better offer' approach for customers from the State Government's independent review into Synergy's billing systems.
