Tourism accommodation, attraction funding to boost WA visitors
- Cook Labor Government launches new funding program for Western Australian tourism operators and developers
- Tourism Accommodation and Attractions Proposal program designed to accelerate investment in new tourism accommodation and visitor attractions
- Program supports the Cook Labor Government's economic diversification strategy by creating a pipeline of tourism projects that will drive local business growth and job creation
Western Australia is set to advance a new pipeline of tourism developments with the launch of the Tourism Accommodation and Attractions Proposal (TAAP) program.
The program offers up to $50,000 in funding to assist WA tourism operators and developers with essential early-stage planning such as site investigations and technical studies required to progress new accommodation or attraction proposals toward development approval and delivery.
The TAAP program aims to increase the density and diversity of tourism accommodation and attractions across WA, encouraging regional dispersal, extending length of visitor stay, and growing visitor expenditure in regional communities.
Western Australia welcomed 11 million overnight visitors in the year ending June 2026, who spent $19.8 billion across the State. Almost one third of this expenditure occurred in regional WA, highlighting the importance of continued investment in new tourism accommodation and visitor attractions to support future growth in WA's regions.
The new program builds on the success of the 2025-26 Unique Tourist Accommodation Proposals Program, which supported 15 accommodation projects in and around national parks throughout Western Australia, with 11 projects having now completed their funded studies.
TAAP forms part of the Cook Labor Government's broader economic diversification agenda, helping to stimulate investment and local business activity and create new jobs across the State.
