Hon. Roger Cook
The Cook Labor Government is celebrating Western Australia's scientists and innovators with the finalists named for the 2026 Premier's Science Awards.
With this year marking the awards' 25th anniversary, the Premier's Science Awards recognises excellence in scientific research, education, and engagement, and plays an important role in the Cook Labor Government's efforts to raise the profile of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in Western Australia.
This year, winners will share in a $140,000 prize pool, including a $50,000 award for the Scientist of the Year in recognition of their outstanding scientific achievement.
Finalists and winners are important ambassadors for STEM and serve as role models for the broader community, helping to inspire the next generation of Western Australian scientists and innovators.
Community members also can participate in the awards by voting for their preferred finalist for the People's Choice Award.
Online voting is now open and will close on Monday, 7 September 2026.
Winners of the 2026 Premier's Science Awards will be announced at a ceremony at Crown Perth on 21 September 2026. The event will also be livestreamed online.
