A construction tender has been awarded to deliver the first sections of new track as part of the Cook Labor Government's $17.5 million expansion of the Wadandi Track.

Common Ground Trails Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract, which will see approximately 24 km of new track completed.

These new sections will extend the already established track north of Miamup Road, Cowaramup to Yelverton Road, Yelverton and south from Sebbes Road, Forrest Grove through the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park to Maze Road, Karridale.

Works are set to commence within the coming months. Separate tenders are anticipated to be issued for the remaining sections of the project later this year.

Construction of the Wadandi Track will be staged in line with the statutory approvals process and engagement with adjoining landowners.

The Wadandi Track showcases rich culture and history along the route, as well as scenic views of the coast, forests, farms, and vineyards.

It is currently 46 kilometres long across two sections: Busselton Jetty to Carbunup River and Cowaramup to Sebbes Road, Forest Grove.

Once complete it will form a continuous trail, almost 110km-long, following the former railway line from Busselton Jetty to Flinders Bay in Augusta.

Completion of the Wadandi Track forms part of the Cook Labor Government's $165 million Outdoor Adventure Tourism packageto support Western Australians exploring the great outdoors.

It also provides a transport connection for people to safely travel between towns by bike, as part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to supporting active healthy lifestyles.

The project is being delivered by the City of Busselton and Shire of Augusta Margaret River in collaboration with the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure.
