Western Australia's labour market remains the strongest in the nation despite global economic volatility, new data released by the ABS reveals.
More than 13,000 Western Australians landed a job in April - a rise of 0.8 per cent - which was the strongest growth of all the states.
More Western Australians are in work than ever before, with employment reaching almost 1.7 million, including a new record for full-time employment.
Since WA Labor came to office in March 2017, more than 395,000 jobs have now been created representing the Cook Labor Government's strong commitment to diversifying the economy and creating quality jobs for Western Australians.
WA's unemployment rate was the lowest of the states at 4.1 per cent in April and well below the national unemployment rate which jumped to 4.5 per cent.
The data also revealed WA had the lowest unemployment rate over the past 12 months, averaging 4.1 per cent.
WA's participation rate jumped to 69.2 per cent in April, and remains the highest of the states, while its underemployment of 5.4 per cent remains the lowest of the states.
The strong labour market result follows ABS wages data released last week, which showed WA's wages growth rose by 3.6 per cent over the year to March, which was again the strongest growth of the states and above the national rate of 3.2 per cent.
The strong results demonstrate the Cook Labor Government's commitment to diversifying the WA economy, so it remains the strongest in the nation and the best place to get a quality job.
