The Cook Government has welcomed China's decision to remove the 80.5 per
cent anti-dumping and countervailing duties imposed on Australian barley in
The decision paves the way for Western Australian barley exporters to
re-enter the Chinese market.
Prior to the suspension in 2019-20, China was WA's largest market for
barley exports, purchasing 53 per cent of the State's production, valued at
Since then, the State Government has continued to support
business engagement with China, while also encouraging market diversification
efforts for long term benefit to our economy.
China is Western Australia's
largest agrifood and beverage export market, representing about 17 per cent of
the State's agrifood and beverage exports in 2021-22.
