Education Minister Dr Tony Buti said the challenge would be held in Term 3 and was open to all primary and secondary school students. The challenge encourages students to undertake regular physical activity and embrace a healthy and active lifestyle which enhances learning.

Registered primary students will be required to complete one 15-minute walk, run or wheel activity, and secondary students two 20-minute walk, run or wheel activities each week during the challenge from August 7 to September 23. Activities may be completed during or outside of school hours.

All participants will have the chance to win weekly prizes and up to 1000 students, who successfully complete the challenge, will receive free entry into the 2023 Perth Running Festival on October 8, 2023.

Teachers, school staff, parents and carers can register students for the challenge to walk, run or wheel, ensuring it is accessible to all students and abilities. Schools may also be eligible for prizes based on student participation.
