Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore has announced funding to help four sporting clubs in the Kimberley.
The grants, from the Sports Lottery Fund Country Package, are:

  • $850 to Kununurra Water Ski Club to help host the Kununurra Dam to Dam event;
  • $750 to the Kununurra Netball Association to help with travel expenses to the Northern Territory Netball Age Championships;
  • $1,000 to the Broome Police and Citizens Youth Club to help pay for travel to the North West Regional Gymnastics Championships; and -
  • $750 to the Broome Amateur Swimming Club for travel to the North West Open Swimming Championships.

Mr Moore said that competing against other clubs was one of sports big challenges.
However, it could be a burden for regional clubs.
"I am delighted, therefore, that the State Government had been able to help with this funding," Mr Moore said.
"The Sports Lottery Fund Country Package is designed to offer funding at the grassroots and these are excellent examples of that.
"All the efforts made by coaches, administrators, officials and those taking part is rewarded when the chance comes to compete in events like these."
