    Mr Moore announced the $10 million project with Mayor John Castrilli at a ceremony in Bunbury today.
    The Minister said the South-West Sports Centre would be developed in three stages and include a Sports House for the Ministry of Sport and Recreation.
    Tenders were expected to be called next February.
    Mr Moore said that the centre would include:
    • a redeveloped and enclosed 50m pool for high performance training and competitions in the South-West;
    • a redeveloped leisure pool linked to the present 25m pool;
    • new administration space of about 200sq m to accommodate the Regional Office of the Ministry of Sport and Recreation and a further 200sq m for other sporting groups;
    • a new gymnasium; and -
    • new foyer, reception and general administration facilities, cafe and shop.

      Mr Moore said that construction was scheduled in three stages over 18 months, with siteworks expected to start next May.
      The Ministry of Sport and Recreation would be a tenant and would sub-lease office space to sporting groups wanting to work from the proposed Sports House.
      Mr Moore said that Bunbury could be proud of its new South West Sports Centre.
      "It's the result of a lot of hard work, a lot of discussion, a lot of planning," he said.
      "I know the Ministry of Sport and Recreation is excited at the prospect of moving into Sports House when it is completed.
      "For its part, the State Government is delighted to be able to help fund this first-class regional facility.
      "I would like to compliment the Bunbury City Council and its officers for their tireless efforts to make this project happen.
      "It is yet another example of the State Government, local government and the community working together for the benefit of all concerned."
