The Phantom of the Opera is coming to Perth and will be on show at the Entertainment Centre starting in July.

Arts Minister Peter Foss said today the Perth season of The Phantom of the Opera season would be about 10 weeks.

"It is very important that Western Australia has the opportunity to see world-class productions and that it is included in the Australian touring circuit," Mr Foss said.

"Apart from providing the high quality entertainment that audiences demand, it will also provide skill development opportunities for the WA artists involved, as well as providing other employment opportunities."

Cameron Mackintosh, in co-operation with Kerry Stokes, chairman of Australian Capital Equity and owner of the Perth Entertainment Centre, will arrange a new look lyric mode at the Entertainment Centre for The Phantom of the Opera season.

It is expected that tickets will go on sale in May. The season will be confirmed by producer Cameron Mackintosh in the near future.

The Phantom of the Opera is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
