Eighteen Western Australian organisations have taken the opportunity to promote their products and services in Malaysia this week.
They are taking part in a trade mission being led by Commerce and Trade Minister Hendy Cowan, who leaves for Kuala Lumpur today.
The businesses and other organisations represent fast-growing sectors such as the food, wine, and oil and gas industries.
The trade mission - called 'Technology and Training WA' - is the third such annual exhibition in Malaysia. It has been organised by the Department of Commerce and Trade's trade office in Kuala Lumpur.
Mr Cowan will participate in a series of seminars to raise the profile of WA's capabilities in areas such as advanced manufacturing and food technology.
He will also meet Malaysia's Minister for Science, Technology and the Environment and the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry as well as business leaders.
Mr Cowan will witness the signing of a series of Memoranda of Understanding with Malaysian Government agencies and private sector organisation in areas such as new materials development and computer technology.
"WA's fashion expertise will also be going on show in Kuala Lumpur," he said today.
"Four local designers will be participating in the mission."
The exhibition will feature a gala dinner at a Kuala Lumpur hotel featuring products from eight WA producers.
Mr Cowan will return to Perth on the weekend.
