Dianella Heights Primary School is one of seven State Government schools to be included in the Education Department's capital works program for administration upgrades in 1995-96.

Education Minister Norman Moore announced this week that refurbishments totalling $210,000 would be undertaken at Dianella Heights.

All the schools - Dianella Heights, Koongamia, Cooloongup, Carine, Collier, Kardinya Primary Schools and Melville Senior High School - would have refurbishments in keeping with their individual administration needs.

These could include better staff facilities, including toilets, refurbished office space for the principal, deputy principal and registrar, an upgraded reception area, new storage space and sick bay.

Mr Moore said savings made due to favourable tendering for other capital works projects in schools had enabled the department to allocate $1.5 million to the program instead of the budgeted $1 million.

Dr Kim Hames MLA, member for Dianella, who lived opposite the school before it was built and whose brothers attended the school, said he was very pleased to see the school being upgraded.

Architects would be appointed as soon as possible for all of the projects so that detailed planning could be under way before the end of the school year.

Work would begin before the end of the 1995-96 financial year.
