Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore said today he shared the bitter disappointment and anger of people in country Western Australia not being able to watch AFL matches live.

He strongly supported a call by Australian Broadcasting Authority chairman Professor David Flint today that Optus and GWN work together to make sure thousands of viewers in remote Western Australia were able to see the games live.

Mr Moore said senior staff in his office had been in contact with Optus, Channel 7 and GWN.

He understood that executives from Optus and GWN were discussing the issue.

If agreement was not reached, he would make representations to Channel 7 proprietor Kerry Stokes to see what could be done.
