Appointment to MTT announced

Transport Minister Eric Charlton has announced the appointment of Mr Russell Allen to the Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport Trust.
Mr Allen heads the Employee Relations Practice in the Perth office of Freehill Hollingdale and Page, and is national chairman of the Employee Relations Practice Group of the firm.
Mr Allen was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1974 and has subsequently been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court in New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
His appointment to the MTT is for one year.
Mr Charlton said Mr Allen brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the MTT, particularly in employee relations.
"Mr Allen has been particularly active in human resource planning, union coverage and the establishment of agreements and award coverage for new and existing enterprises in the retail, manufacturing and service sectors as well as in the public sector," he said.
"He has had involvement in a number of important and landmark cases in industrial relations, including national wage cases and test cases involving technological change and demarcation.
"He takes a commercial approach to employee relations, designing strategies to establish structures and systems that provide the most efficient use of human resources."
