Arts Minister Peter Foss today announced State Government funding of more than $1.1 million to support arts activities in Western Australia next year.

Mr Foss said investment in the arts released many cultural and economic benefits for the State and reflected the Government's commitment to the quality of life of WA people.

"Our arts policy recognises that the arts are essential to life," Mr Foss said.

"However, there are also real economic benefits to be gained.

"The Government invests in the arts because it is a major economic contributor in its own right - a fact that is underpinned in the Coalition Government's arts policy.
