The efforts of staff at the Department of Contract and Management Services (CAMS) and the Office of Citizenship and Multicultural Interests have been recognised in today's Premier's Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management.
Minister for Works; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Mike Board congratulated staff in both departments for their outstanding achievement.
CAMS won the award for Services to Regional and Remote Clients for its 'New Approach to Service Deliver in the Country' initiative.
"CAMS has been working on a two-year 'quiet revolution' to review its systems and the way it delivered services to the country," the Minister said.
"This new focus has seen building management, small capital works and goods and services contracting managed from 14 regional CAMS offices.
"This means Government agencies and contractors are getting a faster and more responsive service in their own backyard."
The Office of Citizenship and Multicultural Interests (OCMI) was a finalist in the Change Management category for its 'Valuing Diversity' initiative.
"OCMI has initiated a range of programs to get the most out of WA's cultural diversity, and they are having a positive effect," the Minister said.
"The staff at OCMI are taking the value of cultural diversity out into the wider community and are helping both Government and private sector organisations take advantage of one of our State's richest assets, our culturally diverse population."
Mr Board said he was proud of the efforts of each of the staff members involved in both departments because of their desire to make positive changes that benefit everyone in the community.
"They show that the public sector is delivering better services to the public," he said.
