Primary Industry Minister Monty House today announced the re-appointment of Dr Graeme Robertson as Chief Executive of Agriculture Western Australia for a five-year term.
Mr House said Dr Robertson, who was originally appointed to the position in August 1995, had been instrumental in leading Agriculture WA through a period of significant change.
Dr Robertson has also made a major contribution at a national level to agricultural policy, including six years as chairman of the Federal Land and Water Resources Research and Development Corporation.
He was awarded the McKell Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Soil and Land Conservation in Australia in 1993.
Dr Robertson is a graduate of the University of WA, and Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He is also a recent graduate in the International Advanced Management Program at Harvard.
Mr House said Dr Robertson had contributed significantly to the agriculture industry in WA developing a strong market focus for our produce on international markets.
Dr Robertson said highlights of the last five years included the development of world-class facilities in key regional areas, increased participation by farmer groups in research and development and the ongoing success of the agency in attracting external and industry funds to carry out research for the benefit of agriculture in this State.
Mr House said Dr Robertson was well skilled to lead and direct Agriculture WA; farmers and agriculture would continue to benefit from his re-appointment.
