Celebrities to take part in Seniors' Week forum
18/10/94
Television personalities Angry Anderson and Geoff Brooks will be two of the celebrities taking part in a special forum which will be held in the city on Thursday as part of Seniors' Week.
The pair will be adding a lighthearted element to the Forrest Place forum which will run from 11.45 am to 1.15pm.
Former rock star Angry Anderson is a regular on the Nine Network's Midday show and Geoff Brooks is best known for his impersonations of RSL president Bruce Ruxton on the comedy show Fast Forward.
The topic for the Forum is 'Will you still want me when I'm 94?' and members of the public - both young and old - will be invited to get on their soapboxes and have their say on the issue.
In so doing they will be eligible for a host of prizes.
Western Australia's Seniors' Minister Roger Nicholls will also be on hand to answer questions.
Members of the Lesmurdie Mazenod Boys College Jazz Band, who travelled to the United States earlier this year where they performed in New Orleans, will provide musical entertainment before and after the forum.
The event has been organised by the Office of Seniors' Interests in conjunction with the City of Perth and University of the Third Age, an autonomous educational institution operating under the auspices of the University of WA.
Mr Nicholls said the forum would be a highlight of the Seniors' Week program and he looked forward to seeing a big crowd at the event.
"I hope people will make the most of this unique opportunity and not be afraid to speak up about the issues that are important to them."
