Certificates presented to 14 Drug Aware WA businesses
22/4/98
The Minister Responsible for WA Drug Abuse Strategy, Rhonda Parker, has today congratulated and presented certificates to 14 Drug Aware Western Australian businesses.
"The Drug Aware concept helps local business show their support for the prevention and reduction of drug abuse in their local communities," Mrs Parker said.
The Drug Aware Businesses have agreed to abide by a code of conduct to prevent drug abuse.
They are committed to responsible supply of products including solvents, working toward the prevention of drug abuse in their local communities, reporting any inappropriate drug activity near their Drug Aware businesses and encouraging others to become involved in the Drug Aware Program.
Shopfront stickers will identify Drug Aware businesses to the community.
"They will work closely with our Local Drug Action Groups, of which there are currently 37 operating around the State," the Minister said.
"The certificates presented to the Whitfords businesses show their support for the fight against drugs in their local area.
"In tackling drug abuse no single response is enough and Government must work with the police, schools, local drug action groups and the community on the drug problems confronting WA."
