Commission on Government commended on work since 1994 appointment

Premier Richard Court has commended the members of the Commission on Government for their diligence and efforts since their appointment in 1994.

Mr Court said the Commission on Government, which had now presented its final report to the State Government, had carried out extensive inquiries on a range of matters that had emerged during the WA Inc Royal Commission relating to parliamentary and electoral matters, statutory officials and public administration.

"COG has carried out considerable public consultation and put forward more than 250 recommendations that are receiving full consideration by the State Government," the Premier said.

"The commission's final report brings together important and fundamental issues about the Western Australian Constitution and our system of government.

"As COG chairman Jack Gregor has stated, many of the recommendations are complicated and do require further discussion. However, they are being addressed by the State Government."
