Contract awarded for asphalt resurfacing wks in metro areas

Transport Minister Eric Charlton has announced the awarding of a $1 million Main Roads contract for asphalt resurfacing works in the metropolitan area under the State's Additional Road Funding program.

Mr Charlton said Boral Asphalt would carry out cold planing, rubberised bituminous sealing and resurfacing on major sections of roads in the Perth area.  These are: 

·   Great Eastern Highway between Causeway East Flyover and Burswood Resort;

·   Perth-Lancelin Road (Wanneroo Road) between Main Street and Beach Road;

·   Guildford Road between Leake Street and Crowther Road and between Pearson Street and North Road; and -

·   Tonkin Highway under the Great Eastern Highway overpass.

"The work will start in late February and improve the safety and rideability at these locations," he said.

"The contract is due for completion in seven weeks."
