Contract awarded for catering/cleaning services for Karijini work camp

Best Choice Catering of Falcon has been awarded a $70,000 Main Roads contract for the provision of catering and cleaning services on an important project in the Pilbara.

Transport Minister Eric Charlton said the contract involved the provision of services to the Main Roads construction camp on the Karajini Project in the Karajini National Park,

"The camp will be established for the construction and sealing of part of a new 76 kilometre road linking the Great Northern Highway to Marandoo," he said.

Mr Charlton said the link across Karajini National Park would markedly reduce the travel distance between Great Northern Highway and Tom Price and Paraburdoo for both tourist and general traffic.

The new route has been financed from the State Government's Additional Funding Program under which $1 billion will be spent on a number of important road projects throughout Western Australia over the next 10 years.

The duration of the catering and cleaning services contract is from March to July.
