Contract awarded for provision of road construction personnel services
20/2/96
A $680,000 Main Roads contract for provision of road construction and maintenance personnel services has been awarded to Strudwick HR of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Transport Minister Eric Charlton said the contract required the provision of suitably qualified and experienced road construction and maintenance personnel when the need arose.
"The workers will supplement existing Main Roads employees to assist in the completion of the regional road construction and maintenance program in the coming year," he said.
The Minister said along with other smaller works, people engaged under this contract would be involved in major projects such as completing the Great Eastern Highway dual carriageway between Gatacre and Throssell Streets in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
"Sections of the South Coast Highway near Esperance will be reconstructed and roadworks associated with the new agricultural checkpoint on the Western Australian-South Australian border," Mr Charlton said.
The Minister said the contract would expire at the end of January, 1997.
