The Western Australian Department of Land Administration (DOLA) is hosting a major training and development tour by officers from Thailand's Department of Lands.

Lands Minister George Cash said the five Thai officers were taking part in practical on-the-job training in data base administration (DBA).

In recent years the Department of Lands in Thailand has developed a land registration system based on INFORMIX data base, as well as personnel and finance systems using ORACLE data base.

"The study team will benefit from Western Australia's expertise in the use of ORACLE and the visit reflects an ongoing professional relationship between DOLA and its Thai counterpart," Mr Cash said.

"This intensive, week-long tour includes practical data base administration experience in DOLA and visits to the Department of Conservation and Land Management, the Ministry of Justice and Edith Cowan University."
