Deputy Premier and National Party Leader Hendy Cowan said today that Wagin MLA Bob Wiese had made a valuable contribution to his party, the Parliament and the State and would be missed after he retired at the next election.
"Bob has always been a forceful character, prepared to stand up for his beliefs," Mr Cowan said.
"His capabilities and competence were recognised when he was appointed Police Minister in 1993.
"Bob came into Parliament after the untimely death of Campbell Nalder , at a time when the two rural-based parties had only just been rejoined.
"In the ensuing time, he has been a loyal and solid contributor to the National Party.
"Importantly, Bob has never lost sight of his constituents and I'm sure will continue to serve the Wagin electorate well until his retirement."
