Dr Stephen Hopper has been reappointed as the chief executive officer of Kings Park and Botanic Garden.
Environment Minister Cheryl Edwardes said Cabinet had decided to reappoint Dr Hopper after his fine work at Kings Park since starting as chief executive officer in 1992.
Dr Hopper has a Bachelor of Science in botany and zoology and a Phd in botany. He has a scientific research background, including holding adjunct professorships at the University of Western Australia and Curtin University of Technology and was a Fulbright senior scholar in 1990, conducting research at the University of California's Berkley campus.
Mrs Edwardes said she was pleased to see continuity in the leadership at Kings Park.
"Dr Hopper has introduced some significant changes at Kings Park, particularly in the area of public services," Mrs Edwardes said.
"We have seen the introduction of music and drama programs and the development of the Lotteries family area at Hale Oval.
"There has also been a new irrigation system in the park and a significantly expanded science research and botanic garden programs under Dr Hopper.
"He has also been a chief architect of the new Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority Act, to be proclaimed shortly, and has spearheaded the program whereby Kings Park is the agency looking after Bold Park."
