Dynamic Technology Pty Ltd has won the CY O'Connor Award and the WA Design Award
17/10/96
A Western Australian company that provides the sophisticated communications system for Perth's passenger train network has had two impressive wins in the State's most prestigious industry awards.
The company, Dynamic Technology Pty Ltd, won the C Y O'Connor Award for Engineering Excellence and the WA Design Award.
"These awards have come to be seen by industry as recognition of significant achievement in a big range of areas," Commerce and Trade Minister Hendy Cowan said tonight.
"The 11 awards presented tonight were closely contested by 86 Western Australian businesses.
"All the winners have made outstanding contributions to industry in this State.
"Dynamic Technology is an electronics industry leader with a multi-million dollar annual turnover."
Mr Cowan said the company was a market leader with a passion for product innovation and a commitment to ensuring its customers always get the finest engineering possible.
"Perth rail passengers will have experienced the company's sophisticated announcement system that provides information about the journey and also allows train crews and passengers to communicate during an emergency."
The company also provides digital message equipment for telephone systems while callers wait on hold, and an intelligent multiple access digital answering machine, MADAM.
It also markets an innovative application called Ezimark, a robotic wool bale marking system, and an electronic information sign purpose-built for major Asian railway systems.
Mr Cowan said it was significant that of the five winners in the export categories, three were from the country.
"Emu oil producer Mount Romance, of Denmark, mineral sands miner RGC, of Geraldton, and furniture maker Jensen Jarrah, of Busselton, are excellent examples of regional businesses which have taken their products or services to the world," he said.
"The Industry and Export Awards give enterprises the chance to become the 'Stars of Western Australian Industry'.
"The 1996 awards recognise local people and enterprises which have had a starring role in business over the past year.
"They identify and encourage the many local companies striving for excellence in the development of products and services for both the domestic and export markets."
Last month, 35 finalists were named by the judging panel from an original 86 entries. The winners were announced tonight at a ceremony hosted by the Deputy Premier.
The star performers in the export categories of the Western Australian Industry and Export Awards automatically become finalists in Austrade's national Australian Export Awards. National winners will be announced in Melbourne on November 19.
The awards are managed and sponsored by Argyle Diamonds, BankWest Business, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Department of Commerce and Trade, Ernst & Young, Poynton Corporate Limited and The West Australian newspaper.
