Members of the Exmouth Horse and Pony Club will be riding a little higher in the saddle after a boost from the State Government.

Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore has announced a $1,200 grant from the Sports Lottery Fund country package which will help the club in a range of areas.

Thanks to the grant, the club will:

·      send two club instructors to attend WA Pony Club instructor training schools;

·      bring an instructor from Perth to conduct a cross-country riding clinic;

·      bring an instructor to hold rider development clinics and riding assessments; and -

·      help members travel to gymkhanas at Winning and Booloogoroo to broaden their riding experience.

"This is what the State Government's Sports Lottery Fund country package is all about," Mr Moore said.

"Through the Ministry of Sport and Recreation, we are able to help regional sporting organisations make sport more fun for their members and put in place the sort of infrastructure and experience they need.

"I am delighted we have been able to help in this way."
