Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave has reminded shoppers that extended Christmas and New Year trading hours for the Perth metropolitan start this weekend.
"The extra hours are designed to give ample shopping time and allow staff to enjoy the Christmas and New Year break with family and friends," Mr Shave said.
The extended hours, announced in August, are based on recommendations made by the Retail Shops Advisory Committee.
The extended hours mean all shops in the Perth metro area can open on the two Sundays before Christmas (December 17 and 24) and stay open until 9 pm on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before Christmas.
Extended trading hours are already available to small shops (exempted general retail) and special shops throughout the year. This year's extended Christmas and New Year hours do not apply to motor vehicle dealers.
Trading hours for Christmas and New Year are:
| Sunday 17 | Noon - 6pm (all shops) |
| Mon 18, Tues 19 | Normal |
| Wed 20, Thurs 21, Fri 22 | 8am - 9pm (all shops) |
| Saturday 23 | Normal |
| Sunday 24 | Noon - 6pm (all shops) |
| Christmas Day | Closed |
| Boxing Day | Closed |
| Wed 27, Thurs 28, Fri 29, Sat 30 | Normal |
| Sunday 31 | Normal (Noon - 6pm, Perth and Fremantle only) |
| Monday 1 | Closed |
| Tuesday 2 | Normal |
