Extra funding for Roberta Jull Child Care Assn (Armadale)
30/7/96
The Roberta Jull Child Care Association in Armadale has received a boost with the announcement of extra funding from Family and Children's Services.
Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes said the department had provided an additional $6,250 to the association which provides counselling for young people and their families.
Mrs Edwardes said the funding would enable the service to pay for computer software and continue making a valuable contribution to the local community.
The Youth and Family Counselling Service offered young people between the ages of 12 and 18 the opportunity to learn life skills and the means to deal with or prevent crises.
"The centre helps young people and families to manage their lives more positively," the Minister said.
"Young people need to develop self-esteem and confidence and also to improve their relationships with their peers and families, where possible.
"They can be put in touch with local services, helped to make informed choices on such things as decisions and plans for the future.
"There will also be professional advice and counselling available."
