Extra school bus to meet demand at Edgewater college
10/2/95
Transport Minister Eric Charlton said today the Metropolitan Transport Trust had provided an additional special school bus service to accommodate increased demand at the Mater Dei College in Edgewater.
The extra afternoon bus to ferry students home began on Wednesday, February 8.
The MTT was asked to look at the issue following approaches to the Minister from the Member for Kingsley, Attorney General Cheryl Edwardes, and Wanneroo MLA Wayde Smith.
"The additional Transperth bus service is in response to a build up in student numbers at Mater Dei for the 1995 school year," Mr Charlton said.
"It appears about 100 students from the college rely on bus transportation to get to and from school each day.
"In addition to the extra afternoon service, the MTT is looking at rescheduling the second of the two morning bus services connecting with the college to reduce the waiting period between each bus."
Mr Charlton said the MTT reviewed special school bus services throughout the Transperth network at the beginning of each school year, and adjusted services according to any changed patronage demand.
