Flexible Learning Centre opens at Kalgoorlie campus of Curtin University

The Goldfields and surrounding regions were given a boost yesterday with the opening of the Flexible Learning Centre at Curtin University of Technology's Kalgoorlie Campus.
Employment and Training Minister Graham Kierath said as more and more businesses embraced all aspects of information technology and demanded highly trained staff in various disciplines, the Flexible Learning Centre was destined to play a major role in the training sector.
"As workplaces demand more highly skilled employees to maintain their competitiveness, it is up to our education facilities to ensure Western Australia remains at the forefront of providing these skills," he said.
Mr Kierath said the Flexible Learning Centre was a joint venture between Curtin University's Bentley Campus and Kalgoorlie Vocational Training and Education Centre Campus and they were to be congratulated on their vision.
Curtin University of Technology was also awarded the Quality Endorsed Training Organisation (QETO) Certificate.
Mr Kierath said the QETO Framework had been developed for an increasingly competitive training market with a varied and dynamic client base.
"The Framework is recognised nationally and is widely viewed as a best practice approach in the vocational education and training sector," he said.
It provides the basis for all training organisations to develop and implement quality assurance and improvement processes suited to their business.
"It is a rewarding acknowledgment of Curtin University - Kalgoorlie Campus's commitment to being a best practice training provider," he said.
"The Curtin University - Kalgoorlie Campus Flexible Learning Centre caters for both vocational training and higher education and is the largest educational campus outside of the metropolitan area."
Mr Kierath congratulated Curtin University of Technology - Kalgoorlie Campus on achieving QETO status and providing cost-effective and diverse education products to the community.
