24/10/00Bunbury's Forrest Lodge Nursing Home today became the first State nursing home in Western Australia to receive a three-year accreditation from the Aged Care Standards Accreditation Agency.
Health Minister John Day said acknowledgement by the new accreditation scheme was a testament to the quality of residential care being provided in the South-West.
"Both the staff at Forrest Lodge and its management should be commended for their determination in striving for excellence and for maintaining such high standards," he said.
"Forrest Lodge has been highly regarded in Bunbury for many years for its commitment to the quality of life of those who need residential care and their families.
"In addition, the lodge's 16-bed dementia care wing is an invaluable resource within Bunbury, providing specialist dementia care by trained staff and respite accommodation to give carers and care recipients a short-term break."

The Moran Health Care Group will take ownership of Forrest Lodge as soon as construction is completed on its new facility in mid-2001.
Mr Day said the standard of care would be continued within the new facility.
