Funding for Anglicare's Collie Financial Counselling Service
19/9/96
Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes announced today that an agreement had been signed with Anglicare's Collie Financial Counselling Service which guaranteed it $31,948.80 a year until June 30, 1998.
Mrs Edwardes said the service would give support to families and individuals on low incomes who were having financial problems and suffering hardship.
"They will be helped to assess their circumstances, budget and make informed decisions about their money, "she said.
"Knowledge, skills, education and a variety of options will be offered, so people can make the most of their money and achieve financial stability.
"Having this expertise will mean a lessening of stress in their lives which will benefit both them and the community."
Mrs Edwardes said she believed the agreement marked the start of a good relationship which would benefit the local community.
This agreement for funding of services would enable the agency to provide programs and courses to meet the needs of local residents.
