Funding for Centacare Bunbury Family Support Program

Family and Children's Services has agreed to fund the Centacare Bunbury Family Support Program to provide services until mid-1998, enabling it to make a valuable contribution that will benefit the community.

Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes announced today that the department had signed an agreement with the service which guaranteed it $83,596 a year until June 30, 1998.

Mrs Edwardes said that families and individuals would be assisted to make positive choices, decisions and plans for their future.

"People who are having personal or relationship problems or problems due to a crisis will be helped with individual, group and family counselling," she said.

"They will be assisted to manage their lives more effectively and to learn how to deal with, or prevent, crises in their lives.

"This service will ease the challenging stresses of daily living which will in turn benefit individuals, families and the community."

Mrs Edwardes said she believed the agreement marked the start of a good relationship which would benefit the local community.
