Funding for Collie Welfare Council
23/9/96
The Collie Welfare Council has been guaranteed funding until mid-1997, Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes announced today.
Family and Children's Services has signed an agreement which guarantees the service $18,184 a year until June 30, 1997.
Mrs Edwardes said the Welfare Council would provide a number of programs for disadvantaged young people aged from 12 to 18 in the Collie area.
"The funding will support places for significantly disadvantaged young people in the Emergency Services Cadet program, where young people learn about emergency services and leadership," she said.
"It will also be used to provide other leadership training and challenges for disadvantaged young people.
"These interesting programs will enable young people to develop essential life skills in a stimulating environment.
"The opportunity these programs will give young people will benefit individuals, families and the community as a whole."
