Funding for Milligan House, Bunbury
9/8/96
Family and Children's Services has agreed to fund the Bunbury Community and Child Care Association's Milligan House to provide services until mid-1998.
Family and Children's Services Minister Mrs Cheryl Edwardes announced today that the department had signed an agreement with the service which guaranteed it $72,930 a year until June 30, 1998.
Mrs Edwardes said Milligan House was a community house which provided a wide range of family and community support services.
"There are a variety of classes and workshops such as personal development, life, family and homemaker skills, arts and crafts," she said.
"It provides an excellent meeting place for old and new members of the community. They can also obtain information about local resources and groups or just enjoy a social outing.
"Milligan House gives support to those who may feel isolated in the community and helps people deal with or prevent crises in their lives.
"This service will ease the challenging stresses of daily living which will in turn benefit individuals, families and the community."
Mrs Edwardes said she believed the agreement would enable the agency to provide programs and courses to meet the needs of local residents.
